300+ Vans Built
Lifetime Cabinet Warranty (original owner)

Real Sprinter van interiors look different from the renderings. After designing and refining layouts across more than 300 vans since 2016, we see the same ideas work again and again. Here are the ones that hold up on long trips, with real layouts from our lineup.

Real Sprinter Van Interiors Start With the Wheelbase

Every layout decision begins with length. Our Sprinter vans come in two sizes: the 144-inch short wheelbase at 19.5 feet, and the 170-inch long wheelbase at 22.8 feet.

The bed shows the difference. In a 144, the bed usually runs across the van from side to side. A 170 lets the bed run front to back with room to spare.

Next, compare the two sizes in our Sprinter 144 short wheelbase and Sprinter 170 long wheelbase collections. Our Sprinter 170 length guide and short vs long wheelbase guide go deeper on parking and driving.

Idea 1: A Fixed Bed That Slides Out of the Way

People sleep better on a real bed. Our standard bed is a near-queen of roughly 60 by 76 inches. It extends to a near-king at night, and the Bivy bed is removable.

A sliding bed also gives space back in the daytime. Our VersaBed frees close to 20 inches of living space when you fold it away.

Read our guides to seat-to-bed layouts, campervan bed ideas, and Murphy, slide-out, and lift beds. You can also add a sliding van bed to an existing van.

Idea 2: A Galley Two People Can Use

A galley fails when two people cannot stand in it at once. The Bivy uses a 60-inch galley with a sink, an 80-liter refrigerator, and a stowable induction cooktop.

The counter is hand-crafted bamboo. A marine table with a mount folds out for meals and laptop work.

The Duo layouts keep the same idea in a tighter footprint, with a sink, a fridge, and an optional induction stove. For DIY projects, see our dual unit galley and single unit sink galley. For other layouts, read about Class B vans with a built-in kitchen.

Idea 3: Swivel Seats That Become a Lounge

The cab has free living space. Swivel captain seats turn the front into a lounge, a dining spot, or a desk.

The passenger swivel seat comes standard on every Bivy. Bivy Plus and Deluxe add a driver-side swivel seat.

Our swivel and slide seat guide explains the options. For passenger vans, see Sprinter passenger van seating options, or book a van seat installation.

Idea 4: Bathrooms From a Bench to a Full Shower

Bathrooms are the biggest layout choice, and the one owners think about longest. Our lineup offers three levels.

  • Bench: The Bivy Classic has a passenger-side storage bench that is toilet and shower ready.
  • Dry flush and exterior shower: The Bivy Plus adds a Laveo dry flush toilet and an exterior shower with a curtain.
  • Bench shower: The Bivy Deluxe adds a bench shower with a 16-gallon gray water tank under the van.
  • Full shower: Duo and Family layouts offer a full shower on select models.

Idea 5: Storage You Can Reach Without Moving Anything

Good storage sits where you use it. We place a full-length upper cabinet on the driver side and a shelf in the headliner for light items.

Wheel well utility boxes hold water and electrical parts out of sight. Deluxe layouts add a slide-out tray in the rear garage for heavy gear.

Idea 6: Materials That Wear Well

A van interior takes more abuse than a house. Wet boots, bikes, skis, and dogs all test the finish.

We use bamboo counters, birch or cedar ceilings, upholstered walls, and coin-dot flooring. Havelock wool insulation handles four seasons. Our cabinets carry a lifetime warranty for the original owner.

Idea 7: Power and Climate You Never Notice

The best systems stay out of sight and out of mind. The Bivy tiers run 5, 10, and 15 kWh of lithium power. The Duo starts with a 2 kWh lithium system.

Climate control scales the same way. The Bivy Plus adds a diesel cabin heater, and the Bivy Deluxe adds a 9.9 kBTU air conditioner.

Layout Mistakes We See Most Often

Most regrets come from small choices. Here are the ones we help owners avoid.

  • Picking a bathroom before checking the wheelbase.
  • Placing heavy items in high cabinets.
  • Adding air conditioning without enough battery power.
  • Copying a layout without measuring the space.
  • Choosing finishes for looks only, not for wear.

Tailored layouts that support different travel needs avoid most of these. Innovative designs that bring comfort to your journey start with how you actually travel.
