Two cold-weather details worth knowing. Lithium batteries cannot safely accept a charge below freezing, so we mount them inside the heated living space or specify self-heating batteries for winter use. The Sprinter holds its value, its diesel engine gets more range per tank on the long empty stretches of eastern Washington and Montana, and its AWD and 4x4 systems have years of proven winter use. It costs more to buy and service, and there are fewer Mercedes van service centers in this part of the state, which is worth factoring in.
