Class B RV Options
A Class B is a camper built on a van chassis rather than a truck frame. It parks in a standard space, fits most home garages, and drives like a tall van, which matters in a metro area where many communities restrict where a full-size RV can sit. Browse our

Conversion Camper Vans
If you already own a Sprinter or Transit, a conversion package turns it into a camper without buying a second vehicle, starting at $46,950. Anyone shopping for conversion vans in Orlando, Florida with a chassis already in the driveway starts here. A
Foundation shell
starts at $9,970 for self-builders.
Weekend and Extended Trips
A short-wheelbase build around 19.5 feet covers coast weekends and stays easy to park. Extended layouts around 22.5 feet add an interior shower, larger tanks and more storage for the Keys or longer Southeast runs.

Camper Van Travel from Orlando and Central Florida
Central Florida Trips
Ocala National Forest, Wekiwa Springs and the chain of freshwater springs north of the city are all within an hour. The springs hold about 72 degrees year-round, which makes them a genuine summer escape.
Gulf Coast Road Trips
Clearwater, St. Pete and Sarasota are about two hours west. See our
Tampa page
.
Florida Keys Trips
Five to six hours south, then the Overseas Highway. Keys campgrounds book out months ahead and many have vehicle length limits, so reserve early and check the limit against your build.
Everglades Travel
About three and a half hours south. Remote, hot, and with very limited services, which makes self-contained water and power genuinely useful rather than a luxury.
Northern Florida Trips
St. Augustine, Amelia Island and the Panhandle beaches are two to six hours north and northwest.
Southeast Road Trips
Georgia, the Carolinas and the southern Appalachians are all within a day. See

and
North Carolina
.
Extended U.S. Road Trips
Orlando sits within two days of most of the eastern half of the country, and a self-contained van makes those drives considerably cheaper than flying and renting.
Orlando Climate and Camper Van Considerations
Hot Florida Summers
Summer highs sit in the low to mid 90s for months, and the heat index runs higher. A dark van parked in full sun gets considerably hotter than the outside air, which is why insulation and ventilation matter before cooling capacity does.
High Humidity
Humidity is the part people underestimate. A van can feel oppressive at 85 degrees with high humidity while being comfortable at 95 in dry air. Moving air through the van is what changes that, so a powered roof fan does as much for comfort here as an air conditioner.
Heavy Rain and Thunderstorms
Central Florida sees an afternoon thunderstorm pattern most days in summer. Sealed roof penetrations and a gear garage for wet equipment keep a daily downpour from becoming a problem inside the van.
Tropical Weather
Hurricane season runs June through November. A self-contained van with its own power and water is genuinely useful during an outage, but it is not shelter in a storm. Plan travel around forecasts and evacuation routes rather than relying on the van.
Ventilation and Temperature Control
A powered roof fan pulls hot, damp air out through the ceiling where it collects. Insulated window covers keep the sun off the glass. Air conditioning then has far less work to do, which directly extends battery runtime.
Moisture Management
In a humid climate, condensation and mildew are the long-term risks. Airflow paths behind cabinets, sealed surfaces and a fan that runs while you sleep are what prevent them.
Year-Round Travel
Florida is one of the few places where winter is the best travel season. A heater still earns its place for north Florida and Appalachian trips, where nights drop into the 30s.
Orlando Camper Van Challenges and The Vansmith Solutions
| Orlando Challenge |
How We Build For It |
| Hot Florida temperatures |
Insulation on all six sides, a powered roof fan, insulated window covers, and air conditioning options sized to the battery bank.
|
| High humidity |
Continuous airflow from a powered roof fan, sealed cabinetry and airflow paths behind panels so damp air escapes instead of condensing.
|
| High AC demand |
A lithium bank sized around overnight cooling, charged by solar, DC-DC alternator charging and shore power.
|
| Heavy rain |
Sealed roof penetrations, washable flooring and a gear garage that keeps wet equipment out of the living space.
|
| Thunderstorms |
A self-contained van gives you the flexibility to change plans, move sites or wait out a storm comfortably.
|
| Limited campground hookups |
Four independent charging paths so a site without power is a choice rather than a compromise.
|
| Beach and outdoor gear storage |
A gear garage beneath a raised bed, plus roof racks for boards and anything too sandy to bring inside.
|
| Long Florida road trips |
Fresh and gray water, refrigeration, galley, sleeping and storage systems sized to trip length.
|
| Orlando traffic |
A van-based Class B platform drives and parks like a tall van rather than a motorhome.
|
| Parking limitations |
A short-wheelbase build around 19.5 feet fits standard spaces. Height is the real constraint, so measure your garage before ordering.
|
| Year-round travel |
Insulation, ventilation, cooling and heating specified together, so the van works in August and on a 35-degree night in the Smokies.

What to Consider When Buying a Camper Van in Orlando
Florida Heat and Humidity
Specify insulation, ventilation and cooling as one system rather than three separate decisions, and size the battery bank around overnight air conditioning if you plan to camp without hookups in summer.
Choosing the Right Layout
Two people fit comfortably in a DUO. Four need the FAMILY Series for the seatbelts and berths.
Vehicle Size and Parking
A high-roof van stands roughly 9 to 10 feet tall. Measure your garage door opening, and check community or HOA rules on parking a vehicle that size.
Electrical and Cooling Needs
This is the single most important spec decision for a Florida van. Undersize the battery bank and you will end up tethered to shore power all summer.
Water and Refrigeration
Tanks and fridge capacity sized for the Keys and Everglades trips where services are far apart.
Storage Requirements
Beach gear, bikes and coolers all need somewhere that is not the bed. A gear garage is usually the answer.
Maintenance and Warranty
A lifetime cabinet warranty for the original owner, with no mileage or year limits. Coastal and salt exposure makes regular rinsing worthwhile, particularly after Keys trips.
