A Class B is a camper built on a van chassis rather than a truck frame, so it parks in a standard space, fits many garages, and drives like a tall van. Rocky Mountain National Park is under an hour west, Estes Park is 40 minutes, and the Poudre Canyon runs northwest from Fort Collins. Loveland sits closer to genuinely good mountain access than almost any city on the Front Range.
Most Front Range trips are two or three nights. A short-wheelbase DUO or FAMILY around 19.5 feet covers them and stays easy to park and store at home.

A raised bed creates a gear garage underneath for skis, bikes, climbing gear and paddles, with roof racks for anything too dirty or too long to bring inside.
Four-season insulation, a fuel-fired heater and a powered roof fan turn a van into a twelve-month vehicle rather than a summer one. That is the whole point in Colorado, where the best ski access and the best camping are often on the same road.
The Transit costs less up front, its gas engine is cheaper to maintain, and any Ford dealer can service it. The EcoBoost engine holds its power well at altitude, which we notice every day at 5,400 feet in Boulder and you will notice climbing toward Estes. AWD is available.
The Sprinter holds its value better, the diesel gets more range per tank, and its AWD and 4x4 systems have years of proven mountain use. It costs more to buy and more to service.

Count the people who will actually travel. Two people fit comfortably in a DUO. Four need the FAMILY Series for the seatbelts and berths, not just the floor space.
Colorado gear takes room. Skis, bikes, packs and climbing equipment all need somewhere that is not the bed. A gear garage is usually the answer.
A fuel-fired heater and full insulation are not optional here. Nights at 9,000 feet drop below freezing in July.

A high-roof van stands roughly 9 to 10 feet tall. Measure your garage before ordering. Also note that some mountain passes have length or trailer restrictions, and switchback roads reward a shorter wheelbase.
