Vansmith custom builds typically range from $80,000 to $200,000 depending on the chassis you choose, the layout, and the systems you add. A custom Sprinter or Transit base vehicle is around $72,000 and is not included in the build-only price. Foundation packages start at $9,970, and pre-built Bivy models start at $164,000 with the van included.

How long does a custom camper van conversion take?

A fully custom Vansmith build runs four to six months from design lock to keys in hand. Pre-built Bivy models are ready in eight to ten weeks. Foundation packages install in six to eight weeks. We give you a real timeline in your first design call.

Do I need to bring my own van for the conversion?

You do not. Most customers ask us to source the chassis. We handle ordering and delivery from Mercedes-Benz or Ford. If you already own a Sprinter or Transit, we can convert yours.

What chassis does The Vansmith build on?

Mercedes-Benz Sprinter (144 and 170, RWD and AWD, gas and diesel) and Ford Transit (148 and 148 EL, RWD and AWD). We build on these two chassis only because we have refined our floorplans, electrical systems, and parts supply around them.

Can I finance a custom camper van?

Yes. We work with RV-specific lenders who finance custom builds on twenty-year terms, similar to a boat or RV loan. Rates depend on your credit tier.

What is the Vansmith lifetime cabinet warranty?

Every Vansmith cabinet is covered for the life of the van for the original owner. We use marine-grade hardware, sustainable wood, and finishes we stand behind. If a cabinet, drawer, or hinge fails under normal use, we fix it.
