Frequently asked questions about Vansmith DIY parts
Each Vansmith DIY part is designed for a specific chassis and wheelbase, typically Mercedes Sprinter 144 or 170, Ford Transit 148 standard or extended, or both. The product title and description list the exact fit. If you are unsure, message us with your year, make, model, and wheelbase and we will confirm.
Most Vansmith DIY parts are designed for confident weekend builders with basic tools (drill, level, measuring tape, painters tape). Each kit ships with detailed install instructions. We also offer paid phone and video support if you get stuck, and the kits are built to forgive minor measurement errors.
Each DIY kit is made to order and usually ships in 2 to 4 weeks. Larger multi-product bundles take 4 to 6 weeks. DIY products are non-refundable because each kit is CNC-cut to spec and cannot be resold. If your order arrives with damaged or missing parts, we will ship replacements at no cost. You have 14 days after delivery to inspect and report any issues. Contact DIY@thevansmith.com for warranty claims.
Yes. If you would rather have a pro install your DIY part, we offer paid install slots in our Boulder shop. Most single-part installs (a galley, bed, or cabinet set) take 1 to 3 days. Contact us for current install scheduling and pricing.
Yes. We offer full DIY conversion kits (the DUO Kit for Sprinter 144 and Transit 148, plus the Sprinter 170 DUO Kit) that include the complete interior package: galley, bed, cabinets, panels, and electrical. Bundles save 10 to 15% versus buying parts individually.
